USING MY NEW JACKET
Are your jackets good for travel?
Yes they pack up very small and don’t crease. They are also hard wearing and don’t mind being shoved in bags etc!
Your jackets look good for wearing in the city – are they technical enough for me wear up a hill?
Yes they are – our garments are as technical as walking jackets from major outdoor brands.
How lightweight are your jackets? Will I overheat in summer?
Our garments are made from an ultra lightweight fabric that is intentionally designed for all-year use. For the warmer months, our fabric is incredibly breathable to keep you comfortable while you’re on the move.
If they are so lightweight will they also keep me warm in winter with layers?
Yes – because we use high performance fabric that is 100% windproof, you will still stay warm. The weight of the fabric isn’t the key to warmth; it’s the wind-proofing properties that count
How hard-wearing are your products?
All our jackets, although soft and luxurious to touch, are actually extremely hard wearing and built to last. The technology behind them is tried and tested and they are much tougher than they look and feel.
How do I wash my Protected Species jacket?
You can wash all our garments in the washing machine at 30° – we recommend you use NikWax Techwash though to keep them performing well. Don’t use biological powder or it may damage the waterproof membrane.
Do I need to reproof my jacket?
Like all waterproofs they will need reproofed about once a year – this is just to aid water repellency, they will always be waterproof. We recommend using NikWax Tx Direct in your machine.
