We have a saying where I live, “there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing!”. I’ve had the Waterproof Parka for over 2 years and it’s still THE jacket for me (and this is saying a lot - I live in a country with very hostile weather all year long). Being Autistic, it means a lot to own a jacket with a wonderfully soft fabric that doesn’t make uncomfortable noises whenever I move. The touch and feel of this jacket are pure magic, plus the hood is the only one I’ve ever worn that doesn’t make me feel claustrophobic and that keeps my glasses dry no matter what -throw crazy winds with horizontal rain or snow, and I’ll still be able to see where I’m walking to. This is something I’ve never experienced before :D. I just wish there was a 2-way zip, but this is really the only improvement I can think of. Thank you, Abigail and the rest of the team for creating such wonderful pieces!

Is the search over? I’ve been buying and selling rain jackets for the past 3 years, as none of them would satisfy my needs. So with the “Tour” it seems that the search is over. It’s lightweight and very soft. It is wide in the chest area allowing good layering for girls with larger busts (like myself, 36F), it has both zipper (two sided!) and snap closure (for quick errands between shops 😊), the hood is lying flat but covers the head very well (even being non-adjustable) – I don’t even think I will have to hold it at strong winds as I would normally do. The side pockets are deep and have zip closure too. The sleeves can be rolled to make them shorter without compromising on waterproofness. The length is perfect for me (168 cm height) – just above the knees. Can’t wait to try under the rain!

I received my City Walker (in black) in the mail this week! The jacket is beautiful, the quality is top notch and cant wait to wear it, especially during my upcoming trip to Europe. Also, the customer service is AMAZING! Anne was beyond helpful…from assisting with the shipping to the US to following up to make sure I received the jacket. Truly the best customer service!!!

After trying many different jackets (thanks for your patience Anne) I settled on the city walker in black. I needed a jacket to take me from Hebridean beach to city gallery and that’s exactly what this is. Stylish and tough enough for Scottish weather, I’ve been looking for one of these my whole adult life. The rain rolls off and when you don’t need it, you can stuff it in your bag. Now I feel the need to get every lady I know on to these beautiful jackets.

I prefer to wear a waterproof jacket rather than carry an umbrella and, in the past, have had to sacrifice style for practicality. However, Protected Species jackets combine comfort, all weather protection and style. I’m a size 16-18 and these jackets are very flattering on the fuller figure. I’ve got a city walker and a parka and love them both. I love these jackets so much I’ve ordered a city walker for my mother and also one for my sister-in-law as Christmas presents

This is my fifth protected species purchase and I continue to love them. This is the 1st city walker as I thought I wasn’t the right height or body shape for it so stayed with Mac and Parka, how wrong I was. It is amazing, the fit is lovely, lots of great little details that really make it stand out. I went for the new Nightsky which is a lovely navy colour. The ease of ordering and the speed of delivery is very impressive and the team are so friendly and willing to help with any questions etc which makes the whole process a joy.

I have worn this non-stop since I bought it! Its ultra -chic but the main thing is the versatility. I’ve worn it to work, going out, on walks, on holiday. – its a pleasure to wear and completely unlike any other waterproof, its just a great jacket that happens to be weather-bomb proof.

A real pleasure to wear. I don’t think there is a jacket like this on the market. Fully technical and waterproof yet doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a heavy waterproof jacket. Great for packing on holiday as lightweight yet reliable. My favourite!!

I already have the Parka (black) which I love but wanted something short for the ‘summer’. I have it in white which looks great with summer clothes and shorts! It’s 100% waterproof – I can guarantee that as I’ve been rained on a lot! Smart enough to wear to work but I’ve also worn it for walks too! I have had a lot of compliments from people who want a smart, stylish yet practical coat. I love it, can’t recommend it enough!

I bought the white one specifically for a March trip to Rome. I wanted something that was more stylish than a traditional waterproof, but that still had all the performance. I LOVED the look of this when I saw it and the reality didn’t disappoint. In fact, I loved it so much when I got it that I bought the black one too! It was absolutely perfect in Rome – living up to its name admirably. It’s lightweight, looks good zipped up or open, good at keeping the chill breezes off too – especially if the hood is stowed, the collar provides a great neck warmer! After two delightfully sunny, if chilly, days I was beginning to get worried that it wouldn’t rain I was so keen to get my hood out – luckily we had showers on our third day so I got to test the whole kit and it worked brilliantly. I felt so good not being encased in crackly brightly coloured Goretex while walking for miles around Rome. A brilliant purchase that I would recommend to anyone. The only criticism I have, and I am really going some to split this hair, is that the flap at the back quite often folds itself up when you first put the jacket on, but a quick sweep as you ‘adjust your dress’ sorts this out immediately. This is a lovely thing, with stylish details like the longer sleeves and the angles on the hems / zips. If you’re wavering at all just try it and see what you think, they’ll take it back if you don’t like it (that’s another thing, the people are great, you get personal emails, outstanding service!). I bet you won’t be disappointed!

I get compliments every time I wear this jacket. It looks so stylish, yet it is so practical for the unpredictable ‘summer’ weather that we’re currently experiencing in the UK. I bought the white colour (more of a lovely warm cream). It is a bit of a magnet for marks, which I have simply lightly sponged away. I have yet to properly wash it, but the quality of the finish makes me think that this will be a breeze. I’m so happy that I have just placed an order for the commuter coat in black.

I have one of each Protected Species style, and I can’t do without them. My city walker is great for in-between days, when I’m not sure about the weather. It looks beautiful, even when the sun is shining, and it give extra effort when it’s wet.

I own two different colour ways in this jacket and have worn them for daily dog walks in spring, summer, autumn and winter! Light enough to stay cool in the Scottish summer sun/rain and warn/roomy enough to layer up during the worst Scottish snow storm (I was toasty warm with this coat and a thick jumper underneath during ‘the beast from the east’).

Love my city walker, wear it in all weathers. Doesn’t feel like a traditional waterproof but it’s saved me from many a West of Scotland downpour flawlessly. Customer service brilliant and friendly too, I bought 2 as wasn’t sure on size and then sent 1 back and they organised it all without a hitch. Highly recommended!
