Sizing and specifications
Dual sized jackets
Single sized jackets
For dual sized garments, the fabric handle and many adjustable parts used for shaping the jacket, means that each size will fit both sizes indicated. for example, size 12-14 will fit a standard UK size 14, with a slightly looser feel on the size 12. If you are between sizing, for example you are normally a 14-16, we recommend choosing the larger size. Our products are all true-to-size to generous to allow for layering (they are suitable for all year round use).
For single sized jackets we recommend choosing your regular size.

We recommend using Grangers products with our garments. They are a brand, like ourselves, dedicated to keeping you dry no matter what the weather. As a technical garment, your Protected Species jacket will need a bit more TLC than your regular clothes. Using the recommended products will keep your jacket performing well and ensure longevity of your Protected Species garments. (Note – regular washing powder can affect waterproofing and repellency)
Grangers Performance Wash is what we recommend for washing our garments as well as preparing them for reproofing. Performance wash will clean, remove odours, optimise breathability, and maintain existing water-repellency. It also provides all garments with a clean, residue-free base for optimal re-proofing.
Grangers Performance Wash is designed to work at 30°C (86°F). Simply place the product in the washing machine’s drawer before washing. Ensure the drawer is free from detergent residue. Afterwards, drip-dry your Protected Species garment (don’t tumble dry) – it will look as good as new once dry.

All waterproof jackets need reproofing from time-to-time as DWR coatings wear off with day-to-day use as well as washing. You will know to reproof when the fabric on your Protected Species starts to “wet-out” and the water doesn’t roll off it so easily. Note – this doesn’t affect the waterproofing. We recommend Grangers Clothing Repel on our waterproof garments. This is a fluorocarbon-free wash-in waterproofer to replenish the durable water-repellent finish on your jacket. The product will also enhance breathability. Grangers Clothing Repel is designed to work at 30°C (86°F). Simply place the product in the washing machine’s drawer before washing (ensuring the drawer is free from detergent residue). Grangers Clothing Repel does not require heat activation therefore garments can be drip dryed (don’t tumble dry your Protected Species jacket). Ensure garments are completely dry before use.
